Most notable sight in the area are the cranes. There's been a fight about whether they're buildings or not, and thus, can they be preserved as buildings.

The cranes are valuable not only because of the looks, but the history. They were built right here at Wärtsilä's works in 1950's.

View to the former Western Aura shipyard. The buildings are legacy of shipbuilding, but they've been in new use for some 25 years already.
Notice the Swedish warships in front. Swedish navy was visiting Turku as a part of some anti-terrorism training operation just when this trip was made. There were some 10 ships in a line. Early in the morning, they held their mission briefings and executed their morning routines practically next to where we explored an active industrial area. Their some kind of alarm system test, which made a helluva noise, managed to raise adrenaline levels on the other side of the river.
