In 2002, one our long time wish, finding an abandoned water treatment plant became reality along with an email from the capitol city area. We were told that there's been a waste water treatment plant out of use for long in Vuosaari, east Helsinki. Furthermore, it would be torn down soon. The latter rumour turned out to be slightly exaggerated. We did the annual summer time megatrip in July and while in the capitol, ofcourse visited also Vuosaari. It wasn't very easy to find the plant unlike we had assumed. The place isn't exactly large for a waste water treatment plant, and there is lots of space in Vuosaari. Gladly there were local boys around the corner who knew the location.

The plant has become obsolete for water resources management after a new central plant in Viikinmäki replaced the 11 old ones in 1994. The place became soon populated by outdoor war game activists and writers, atleast. Recently more official users have taken back the direction at Vuosaari and some contructions have been demolished. Remaining parts are in various secondary use.
