| 1. Trip starts.. |
The idyllic scenery of swimming beach is distracted by something in the bush. It's hiding, but leafless trees cannot hide it completely.
Closer range. Expecting to see burned ruins, this was a slightly positive surprise - there are actually buildings left.
Well, on the other hand, a lot has disappeared, and more will follow.
There is no smoke stack, only this puny pipe stands a bit above the roofs.
*omg* the "local OGK" has stroken here.
Finding an access point is no issue. A few of the holes seem to be cut for airsofting.
There is graffiti, but the place is not full of it. This one was very fresh.
This part hasn't burned very seriously.
Virenoja's narrow gauge..
The storeys lacked great details, so rather quick checking.
Stairs felt unsafe, but they lasted.
One floor below.
Remaining production machines, which were not so outdated in 1960's. They had oil burners, rotomixair dryers and other equipment.
Another room with threatening texts written on the walls.
From a small storage room we find a shelf, almost empty, but there is something..
Maybe a rather indirect connection, but this firm owned the now-burned sawmill of Skogby after closing.
Exiting to backyard..
Half of the walls missing, and the building is standing!
Another manhole in wall.
All existing buildings were built of own bricks. The chicken or the egg?
There is no kiln, but it was located about here. Apparently it was razed down after fire.
