| 5. The Power Plant pt. 1 |
This basement was the place where we entered. Some ventilation windows were left unlocked from the construction workers, who currently seemed to be working with the station. It wasn't a too good route in because of these pipes that disturbed climbing and caused noise but worked anyway.
There are lots of pipes around in this center part of the building, but not for long I suppose. The station will either be demolished or then totally shapeshifted to something else (like what?).
Rusty. When we hung at the basement a creeping voice suddenly started coming from some of these pipes, what the hell was it we don't know but it definitely wasn't a bypassing train.
Looks like some pieces of the system were removed quite some time ago. Here's insulation materials and sheet metal covers.
As you can see, the basement was lit in the middle of the night. Very good for us.
It was a window similar to this one where we entered.
Pressure tank with gauges.
A 3 megawatt electric tank, whatever it means?
There's an instrument panel also here. Measuring range goes up to several megawatts.
And some connection boxes for a change.
Machinist toolset rather similar to the one in Jyväskylä's plywood factory power station. Except that the tools are missing here.
There's been something big here that's been connected to these pipes that peek out from the floor, I think. Some of the pipes are water fillt.
A door in the room where we entered. Let's check it..
Yes it's locked and we really don't have a crowbar or similar.
Reason why it's locked is revealed when we take a picture through the windows, these switches are probably just as alive as the transformers that buzz outside the plant.
Hiihii! Great pipes!
At the end of basement, in the wide part of the building, a different section. What we got here is a chemistry lab. It would be interesting to know what they hassled here with, my guess is that maybe, just maybe it had something to do with monitoring fuel quality or burning waste compositions.
Laboratory stuff like Erlenmeyers and old chemical wholesale catalogs in this draft cabinet.
Ripped waste area between the machine room and the lab. But the stairs up start from here.
