Strömfors sawmill, Ruotsinpyhtää (Strömfors)
colourline

This sawmill belongs to the similarly named iron works area, which is a major attraction in it's region. Sawmill was built in the 19th century after Antti Ahlström bought the iron works and it continued to saw trade timber till 1953. After sawing it has become a warehouse for stuff, atleast recently raw materials for a nearby electrical component producer.

dm-r9-stf_hasa4 Logway has been removed and the hole is covered with sheet metals. Otherwise the building is in quite original form.
dm-r9-stf_hasa1 Past years have taken their toll. Windows and doors are not quite straight any more and the roof is arced where it shouldn't be.
dm-r9-stf_hasa2 Preserving old stuff like the fire siren on roof is a good thing, but I have to wonder why the sawmill hasn't been kept better. It is tightly a part of the iron works and tourist attraction area, and a rotting sawmill with broken windows doesn't fit very well to the other, better conditioned old buildings.
dm-r9-stf_hasa3 Great looking windows, even if partly broken.
