Västra Nylands Folkhögskola & surroundings, Pohja (Pojo)
colourline

In fall 2003 a most educating trip was made to central of Pohja, the historic municipality with not less than four old ironworks. We were guided to a former house of swedish folk high school Västra Nylands Folkhögskola by local native region oriented poeple. So a cooperation visit it was. Immediately adjacent to the old folk high school were also an unknown empty house and one 1970's concrete house condemnated due to fatal moisture damages.

This has been the main building of folk high school which today is nearly the largest of over 90 Finnish similar institutes. It's operation in this house (and in this municipality) was ceased in 1970's, when a modern education center was built to the neighboring city Karjaa.
Bleaky looking at the backyard. One thing that becomes clear is that there is no trouble accessing the house if you're not afraid of climbing rusty ladders attached on a rotting wall.
Once inside, a ripped and messy interior was found.
This room had traces of living (and not talking about student accommodation). Maybe someone has slept a few nights here but the place isn't suitable for permanent low-living. Anyway, there was a sort of kitchen arrangement and even a substitute for toilet behind the "captain urethane" sheet.
Surprisingly, some doors are of the new, weak standard laminated board type.
There were many tile stoves and this is one of the finest of them. Or it would be without the paint on it.
When descending downstairs, the first signs of existence of the dark forces appeared right at the hall. For some reason nobody had brought a flashlight so it was very dark at first.
A sort class room.
Ceiling looked weird and there seemed to be laundry hanging from it. Closer investigation revealed that paint had peeled off as huge blankets that hung eeriely in the dark rooms.
Checking out.
Someone removed the tiles and left quite a disgusting looking stove wreck here.
This house is adjacent to the folk high school. What it is, even the locals didn't know. Maybe an old guest house, maybe a building related to the folk high school - or then not.
Basement of the red house was accessible. There were cryptic low rooms with thick brick walls that had been painted with different colours.
This kind of basement could be suitable for maybe maturating cheese, wine or storing food for a big bunch of people. Who knows.
Different room.
This house owned by the municipality of Pohja is one of the poorly designed products of the 1970's. Apparently some locals call them the cheese cubes. The house is empty but maybe no-one would want to fund it's demolition. While hanging at the backyard some kid from the next house came reporting us that someone had broken a window of this house some time ago.
Doors were locked and we didn't feel like breaking and entering or anything similar so we only admired the cheesy thing from outside. There was a hand written note "HUOM! kameravalvonta" on one window, but I seriously doubt it's truthfullness.
