Water power station in Siuro, Nokia
colourline

Ismo Alanko sang that behind Nokia there is nothing but forest, but that's not true. There is Siuro, a nice small village and a small waterpower station, which is operational, although old. The place has intrigued us for years, and suddenly in 2006 came a chance to see it from inside. It wasn't typical exploration, but well, getting inside anyway.

Clip from Aamulehti newspaper, 2002 gives a forehand warning - it is not just another power station.
Siuronkoski seen on one October afternoon.
Here the village road crosses the stream. On the opposite shore is the local place to be, Koskibaari. DM recommends.
dm-siu_taidetta18 As you see, here we focus on a very special piece of branch wood. In the distance you may also see the power station.
The power station has a smoke stack, which is weird enough since it runs with WATER power..
dm-siu_taidetta02 Once again we're here in 2006. The power station looks still good.
dm-siu_taidetta01 Power from the power station - sounds good, let's go and see.
dm-siu_taidetta03 Not quite what you expect to see inside an old power station, still half active (the part closest to the stream).
dm-siu_taidetta07 Nila =)

There was a lot of stuff inside. It was very uncommon for typical targets. No junk refrigerators, car tyres, televisions, graffiti or beer bottles. See for yourself, no further comments.
