The name Nokia is nowadays so much associated with cellular phones and modern communication. However, Nokia is a small town west from Tampere city, where a rubber factory of the same name started out about 150 years ago. Much, much later they moved to hi-tech business.

  There's still quite a lot of industry in Nokia, and also some relics in which we concentrate now. Linnavuori is an old industrial worker residential area of the Valmet factories. Nearby Siuro village's history is strongly related to the rapids that flow through the area.
