dm-pir_05jul_pyhis14 We knew what to expect when going in. There would be no original machinery but instead various stored junk. Clearing an access was what took so long, since nobody seems to even try and get in there.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis10 You can imagine this has been a sawmill, but without that imagination, it doesn't look very much like one..
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis05 This organisation is still active and has operations atleast at the PX of local Air Command. We can only guess what's the relation to the sawmill.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis06 References to vanished industry in Tampere, pt 1: Tampereen Marja was located in the Lapintie street and like the name says, they refined berries. The estate is now converted to flats.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis08 References to vanished industry in Tampere, pt 2: former soap factory of Tampereen Saippua was located in Naulakatu and demolished in 2004.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis07 A lot of the junk inside the sawmill must have come from construction and renovation projects, like these glass tiles.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis09 Some rather useful items here.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis13 Beer hall, probably banners of the brewery that had some operations at the area.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis11 Some few original items remain inside. These switches are in a room too small to store anything.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis12 Same room with rusted steel sheet walls and some meters.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis20 In some sections the switches are even live. There were some items slightly too valuable looking to photograph here.
We found this corner early.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis19 Much later, nothing had changed here.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis30 We've now moved from the sawmill to the red brick house with various departments. This small apartment stores a notable amount of unused Coke labels.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis29 Reason why there are so lot of these left must be, that this bottle size ("family bottle" 0.75 liters) was only produced for less than a year in 1969. It was replaced by a 1 liter equivalent, and it seems that bottles with this particular label are now collector's items, since they're being sold in some internet auction stores. If only somebody paying $ 85 for Ultrarare Finnish 0.75 l Coca Cola bottle would know about this room...
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis31 Various stuff from bars and stores has ended up here.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis32 Newspaper Riihimäen Sanomat from 1956, the year that the sawmill was closed, tells about tragic sinking of the freighter Pelagia in Northern Norway.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis36 Commercial stuff all around.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis34 Apparently Fanta was also sold in 0.75 liter bottles.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis35 Come and see the movie "Ihmeellinen maailma", Coca Cola served.
dm-pir_05jul_pyhis37 So innocent and naive that it's hard to believe this is an advertisement of the Coca Cola company, but it is.
