| 2. Niskos-Härkönen |
Starting from Aitoneva towards the unused direction, East (North if looking at the track kilometers).
Before leaving, a look behind to Aitoneva's Eastern point. The rails seem to shine, but it's only due to bright sunlight shining straight toward.
The line is missing a few sleepers here and there, but for light vehicles that's totally tolerable.
This level crossing, unlike most others here, has been automatic. Track circuit's borker mark is attached on a durable place at the tip of a rail.
Same subject at the other side of the crossing.
Track circuit's connections, that's it.
Some private persons have parked their draisines to nearby of the railroad. This vehicle has better conditions than most others, since it's safe from rain.
Now this mark is in strange place!
The former railway station of Korte, nowadays a rather silent place.
Bypassing Korte quite quickly, since there isn't much to see today.
A camourflage draisine? Not a bad idea, but we prefer the original VR colouring.
A rare thing to find from modern railways, here the rails are not welded together. This guarantees a constant clattering sound while traveling, which is good.
Unforseen encountering a bit East of Korte. Driver of the red draisine had nonchalantly parked the vehicle on tracks and left somewhere, so we had to go around it.
The strange encountering occurred here. There is a lake a rock's throw away from the tracks, so it's possible that the driver was swimming. Other explanations than that, then, are much more scary.
Angleur's rail, 30 kg/m.
In the beginning it felt strange to drive over train bridges, when usually you always get to drive under such things.
This section of the line was in relatively tidy shape, because it had been cleaned just some time before. Some wild growing weeds around but nothing too thick.
A bush track, it sure is.
This construction has been removed from a bridge in Vaskuu and it now lies waiting for future, whatever it will bring.
Next station, Vaskuu. Here we were greeted by a man apparently living in the station.
Explanation to why the track was so unexpectedly clean so far. To maintain a good draisine route for the travel business operating out of Aitoneva, the track has been poisoned.
A nasty surprise awaits in Vaskuu if you don't know it. It appears quite quickly from the bush and is fatal for steel wheel traffic.
Another level crossing and dead trees displaying the might of poisonings.
Time to whistle.
Understandable mark, but who is meant to exactly? It looks so old, that... trains??
The end.. Not even near, but also here the bridge is missing. The draisine must be carried over.
Next station is Härkönen.
Like this shows, all the stations by this line look the same.
