The sawmill as seen from the huge empty yard. It's been empty since machine drying came to the mill and the timber yard needed not be full of timber stacks. At the opposite side of the yard lies the modern wood house production facility.
The mill has been expanded in 1938. The lathing wing on the left probably belongs to the new sections.
Waste dust conveyor is not in an excellent shape today.
Two logways are standing strong in amongst wild vegetation.
Whenever possible, a sawmill should be entered through the logways. It's the coolest way in. Here it was possible. The conveyor led to a dark, wood stenching hall.
A chipping canter has been used here. I don't think we've seen one anywhere earlier, usually these machines have been sold away as rather modern and valuable pieces of equipment.
Both major makes of equipment of a typical Finnish sawmill were represented. Here the frame of Karhula sawing machine.
And here, a newish Bolinder frame.
Eskilstuna, that's where I'm from!
Reelway's chains are a bit loose.
Edging saw was hidden behind old walls inside the hall.
Operating panel of timber drier had been brough to the wing, which had some easily accessible floorspace.
Also this, "kone 7" had been brought to shelter.
Quite modern looking Friz conveyors have been thrown out to the yard.
Sawing dust would be blown to this house. Since the waste was originally burnt in the power station, there have probably been some track conveyors between these two units.
This is one of the places where you can drive your all the way to the target. You couldn't get much closer.
Perhaps formerly fuel wagons dumped to the bushes.
In the corner of the area there was a two storey building possibly named Väkilä (we're not quite sure if THIS is Väkilä). It's a junk warehouse, but there was also a horse stall section and this workshop. We didn't see any horses, though.
>From the broad range of junk collected to the attic we found this truck door. The name of the sawmill company back in the days Pomarkun Liike Oy reflects the local importance of the sawmill. It's been a major firm in the town, calling itself just "business of Pomarkku".
A four tunnel timber drying house belongs to the abandoned buildings. To the left of it there's the two storey building
A peek inside a drying tunnel. Atleast there's been enough drying capacity.
Air circulators were in surprisingly terrible condition. What could damage them in the weather sheltered pit?
Last but not least comes the timber storage, which is not very massive.
