Back To The Sawmill of Pomarkku
1. The Power Plant with Machines
colourline

The power station and smoke stack in full. The area is easy to locate from the distance even without knowing where it is, because the stack is quite tall and can be seen from far.
It's not a bad conditioned building, considering it's about 80 years old and abandoned. For example the doors are still properly (b)locked and windows have glasses, apart from one corner window.
Some insulated duct scrap that's been removed from the station lies here at the yard. There's an exotic mechanical adjusting device on the wall consisting of steel beam and cable wires that goes inside through the wall.
Some window frames were loose here so we could climb in. Inside it was dark.
Right after climbing in we had to face two root jaws of the boiler. In right corner there are steel ladders for climbing to the top.
A text shingle of the adjacent house producer firm that probably owns the entire industrial plot has been brought to the station among with some other junk.
Main fuel feeding shutters.
At the fuel area there are some caps where you can peek inside the root part.
Technical info plate of the boiler. Manufactured 1963, steam pressure 12 kg/cm2.
The middle section is reserved for pipes, circulation pump and open water reservoir.
The machine hall is adjacent to the boiler but totally isolated, on upper level than the boiler hall ground.
There was this one electric meter panel present. Perhaps it's the only one that there ever was.
Now, machines good conditioned and classical as this you'll find seldom. It's a steamer, brought here from sugar factory Suomen Sokeri Oy fifty years ago.
Like you see it's a Sulzer product. We couldn't find manufacturing date anywhere.
The balancing wheel has required space for spinning. That's why the hall is built higher than the ground level.
The heavily bearing mounted wheel.
Generator's side and trapezoid belts. None are missing.
The generator is not exactly big, but it was probably big enough for powering a middle sized sawmill. A smaller electrical machine at the end of the shaft.
The tachometer indicator unit is at the other side of the installation. Most typical speed of rotation seems to have been a bit over 100 revolutions per minute.
Steam duct with shutter valve goes towards the boiler.
Hardly worth showing this, but until better pictures (which will hopefully be taken later): something under the floor.
Several ducts below the floor at the maintenance area. It's pitch black because there are no windows and very, very dirty.
Checking the places under machine hall.
Someone took all the fuse holders off the consumption monitoring panel!
Backside of the panel looks nice.
One more thing from the switching room.
There was also an auxiliary power unit, a small steam machine.
The APU generator is behind brick wall.
Manufacturer's plate. It' doesn't say very much.
