Pohjolankatu 7-11 flat houses, Savonlinna
colourline

bicycle station

There have been three modest, wooden flat houses in the beginning of Pohjolankatu street, East from the central of Savonlinna. The biggest local employer, plywood factory, is near and it could be the original developer of these houses. However, atleast later the flats have belonged to city of Savonlinna, that has apparently rented them for anybody who has accepted such a flat.

By 2002, these apartments and the houses had deteriorated so that it was time to do something dramatical with them. The municipal board decided not to renovate and develop them into a supervised living type houses, but to demolish them. The leases were terminated and houses were sealed in 2003 to wait for the upcoming demolition. Fortunately for exploring, boarding of access points was once again not adequate. Even here, where the plywood supplier was so near they saved in raw materials.
