The Finnish defence forces have numerous units all around the country. Tampere is a city that has never had a garrison (although there have been such in neighbor towns), but there is other military activity. The depot Keskusvarikko 9, founded right after WWII became defunct around the year 2000, having served mainly as an officer club house for the last years. Unlikely to estates of the state, the building wasn't sealed very well. So soon local youth found the place and started frequenting it, it's even been squatted some years ago.

After WWII this was one of the 9 central military depots in country. Apparently it was in some point merged to the still operating vehicle depot, since 1992 known as Kuljetusvarikko (KuljV). This particular building was located by the opposite side of road to Pori than the vehicle depot and was hidden in the bushes until a big road construction project ate off it's territory. The place was demolished in 2004.
