The Sawmill of Piikkiö

The Ruins Of It But ... RIP!!

The most distant destination during our summer time exploration trip "Retki II" in 1998, also one that seemed like a very very promising place. Okay, it was just another sawmill, located on an island of Harvaluoto in Piikkiö, south archipelago Finland. The company name was "Puutavara OY Piikkiö" if that should interest anybody and the mill was used from early 1900's till 1970-1980's. The area is peaceful, nearest houses are somewhere far away. Well the only thing is, it was fully demolished before we got to check it out, so, a sad ending here. RIP!

View at the yard. The pile behind is what's left of the power plant. The depressed atmosphere at the area inspired us to write the Matti Näsä-quote on the paper which says "Who's idea?!!" plus something else.
Violator paying respect at the top of the trash pile in Piikkiö. This is what's left from the potentially great exploration place.
Overview of area.
This is what it was before the destruction!
