Thread reel mill

This rather large area has buildings and ruins belonging to a thread reel factory, brick factory, sawmill, mill, charcoal ovens and other constructions related to these. All this industry was established by Heikki Peura's Peura Oy. Oldest buildings are from the year 1896, when industry started here. Later the complex was sold to Rauma-Repola, who shutdown last activities at the area in 1983.

Most of the buildings are now ruins. The sawmill and the reel mill have burned. Industrial activity on the place had already been stopped some years earlier. However, there are several interesting buildings still standing empty. Area is somewhat peaceful, surrounded by woods and a lake. Very good place for expeditions, but recent visitors have reported some of the buildings have been demolished and more destruction may follow.
