Yes, this seems to be related to railways. Actually it's a former gravel pit, that's become a scrap yard for railway stuff because there's still a functioning steel wheel connection here.

A piece of railroad bridge from Vääkiö, Suomussalmi has ended up here. It was removed and transported here, almost 100 km south in 2007 after a truck hit it. Now the disused railroad will surely remain disused.
