Nivala Oy sawmills, Nivala
colourline

Nivalan Saha ja Mylly Oy started traditional industry (milling, sawing and brick burning) as the first operator in Nivala in 1938. Only sawing continued later and the business name shortened to Nivala Oy. The old sawmill burned, but the company built a new one near the ruins which were left standing, and continued to the beginning of 1990's. For last years the existing buildings have been almost useless.

dm-nvl_osakeyhtio01 This small stream has probably powered the flour mill. Building a sawmill and mill next to a stream and then not utilizing the free source of power would not sound logical.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio13 The old sawmill was destroyed by fire somewhere in 1980's. This ruin of power station and possibly other departments was left to stand next to a small enterprises' new hall.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio11 Not much to see inside today.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio02 Let's peek inside anyway..
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio03 Waste timber in a half collapsed building is what can be found from here.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio07 The building is concrete, that's why it's actually possible to go there today.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio04 Nothing very interesting to see here.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio06 Maybe blade sharpening has also been located in this building. That would explain this find.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio05 "I understand pain" - I personally don't undertand this painting.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio09 Another room with painting favoring STONE. Yeeeeeehh...
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio12 This absurd flower installation decorates the corner of the plot.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio14 This new sawmill is clearly a new sawmill. A box made of corrugated steel sheets.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio21 This is a young building, but totally neglected and unused. It's gone to a crappy condition.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio15 Emptied, not that we expected anything else.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio17 But something saw-related - sawbands - can be found from here also.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio16 Cooperation firms include interesting names, on top the firm HASA, whose unique name is explained by home town - Haapajärvi.
dm-nvl_osakeyhtio19 Cabling room's interior was rather untouched.
