Haarla Oy fine paper mill heat station, Tampere
colourline

The former paper mill in Onkiniemi, Tampere has been under conversion and temporary use for years and it still continues to be. From exploration point it's not very interesting, but the heating station was a small curiosity for a while before millennium, when it was emptied and accessible with no door at all.

A photo from the pre-historic age of this site. This is the mill's machine wing. The unit was too small to be operated profitably, even though in the end it specialised strongly in certain products. The last owner YPT (Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat) closed the mill in 1980's.
View from backyard of the mill. Heating station is on the front left.
Apparently the boiler room. It was sooty and preferred by pigeons.
Wall in the room.
Maintenance basement was inacessible, since these manholes without ladders were only way there and we didn't have (and still don't have) any equipment suitable for climbing such places.
Fuel storage and a fuzzy photo.
Empty fuel storage, which was also too deep to be accessed (coming back up was the hard bit).
