The nostalgic roundabout view

Matti-Trikoo was a tricot/knitwear factory run by a family company. It started operation with the name Matti Sutisen Kutomo Oy, but the less home-made sounding new name was chosen with a name competition and taken to use in 1949. The nice small mill near the Viinikka roundabout has been a landmark in Tampere for decades, also after textile production in the building ended and new users came in 1980's.

In the last days some handicraftsmen had small workshops in the building, mostly related to textile branch. In march 2000, the buildings of Matti-Trikoo were demolished, along with most other industrial sites that were near. These pictures are from 2/2000, when the factory was totally empty. Years after demolition, the plot of Matti-Trikoo is empty. Logistically it's in a superb place, but too small for anything else than maybe a house, for which the location is bad.
