Maavesi train halt, Joroinen
colourline

There are many similar looking, small train halt buildings by the sc. Savon kolmio railway line triangle in East Finland. Most of these "chinese" buildings have either been demolished or sold to private owners. None of them are useful for railways today. There is atleast one place though, that has just been left to rot, and that is the halt in Maavesi.

dm-jor-muavesi02 What a sorrowful sight is the building today.. The place is so far in recessing rural village, that even painters haven't found the place very well, despite their general interest towards railways and abandoned places, which both are categories that this building fits into.
dm-jor-muavesi01 Not much better at the other side.
dm-jor-muavesi09 Some of the windows have been boarded, but apparently not all. You can tell from the condition of boardings, that they have also been there for quite long.
dm-jor-muavesi03 Door to the combined waiting room, ticket shop and station manager's office.
dm-jor-muavesi04 The flap doors are in surprisignly good condition. They still stand exactly straight and mechanisms function well.
dm-jor-muavesi08 Good paint, it hasn't peeled off at all after years, probably decades, of differing weather conditions.
dm-jor-muavesi05 Inside. The halt wasn't designed for very big passanger masses..
dm-jor-muavesi06 Most of the activity here seemed to have been fertilizer transportation for local farmers. The office booth's floor held different cargo papers, mostly related to farming.
