North of the central town of Kankaanpää there's a village named after the bypassing stream Lohikoski. There are a few small industrial plants in the village. Probably the biggest of them has been the brick factory Lohikon Tiili Oy, operating in different forms at the place since 1949. Through many phases the modern facility ended up to be a part of the extractive industry arsenal of Pa®t€k company. They scaled down the production and eventually closed the factory.

The buildings are of concrete and brick. They're strong and not very aged, but some walls have been bulldosed. Some sections have also been arsoned, but that has not left very drastic traces. Probably the designers of the constructions have kept possibility of fire (in normal circumstances caused by the burning kiln) in mind. Nowadays the ruins serve an entrepreneur who arranges urban paintball adventures here.

The place cannot be found accidentally. We started with meager forehand knowledge, we had heard that there are brick works somewhere in Kankaanpää that are being used for training purposes of the Finnish defence forces. Gladly there are maps and the WWW. But finding the area was still not easy. Because there is no smoke stack, the factories are well concealed in the leafy woods although they're not far from the road. We wasted a lot of time trying to find the place but eventually decided to ask local people. An annual village party was just going on so there were plenty of happy people around, and the first person we asked knew the place. It was not far but hidden.
