Village of Kimo has a long history of industry. A river flowing by has powered ironworks since 1703, and later facilities include a woolen mill, cigarette factory and sandpaper factory, which is operational today. Also a feed factory belongs to the newer facilities.

The ironworks closed over a century ago, but many of its buildings have been kept in good shape and the area is now the main tourist attraction of the municipality of Oravais. There's a small sawmill located slightly outside the primary tourist area, which is also in excellent condition but very old. Apparently its past has a strong connection to the ironworks. We took look inside one Autumn morning.

	Woods near the sawmill hide a strange pipeline. It's even been fenced.
	Unbuilt environment surrounds the sawmill. Rather different than rotting, polluted abandoned industrial areas.
	Big roof and no walls on sides at all is the special shape of the sawmill.
	Sawmill and its source of power looked quite great from the bridge crossing the dam.
	The carefully kept sawmill hid timber, planks, window frames etc. inside. Apparently it's only supposed to be admired from outside.
	Good old wooden doors.
	Wooden sleigh number 3 found!! Also an old bed.
	More classy old furniture. Some local carpenter seemed to be the user of the sawmill, which explains these items.
	Of course the main sawing equipment, one cast iron frame, couldn't be passed without notification since it was still present.
	Neat reels and wheels.
	Rust and rivets.

	This room was tidy and smellt strongly of smoke and soot.
	Basement of the sawmill is different than typical small sawmills. Heavy support beams and water channel dominate the space.
	They've built a bridge over the water channel. Looks light, but having been built by a professional it felt very durable.
	Water standing in the channel, which apparently was blocked from the other end looked rather... interesting..
	Water falling down a few meters right behind the walls creates a constant soundscape the the sawmill.
