| Kaipiainen (Kp) station area, Anjalankoski |
The historic train station of Kaipiainen was built in 1870. This route section is a connection to Russia from Southern Finland, so it's twin-track with lots of traffic. The village itself is not much but one (active) feed mill and railway related operations, a rail-welding facility. A bit sleepy village with old railway spirit.

The thing in the bushes is one of the finer train water towers in our country. It also contains one locomotive slot. |

Sadly the tower has been let to a dangerously weak condition. It can't be too far in the future when they're forced to tear it down (which won't require too much effort). |

In winter the area is beautiful in a different way. |

Sweet! |

You can hardly see the tower at all from this side in summer. |

There are fences and warning signs around the building. Risk of getting hit by a falling brick is not exaggeration, this is truly a place more dangerous than the infamous Rehu. |

Don't believe, just look at the entrance. |

Entering the building is simple since the structures are falling apart and blocking doors no longer works. |

Not boarded, but planked windows. |

Basically it is just like all water towers, the exteriors are more impressive than what's inside. |

Relics. |

The oven. |

Very unsafe flooring and excrement are main elements at the top of the ladders. |

Here's the station. The yard layout is very unusual, having the station placed in the middle between tracks. Originally the station was longer, but it was shortened as part of it was transferred to Utti to replace a burned station. |

Winter took away the leaves but brought very little snow. |

Finally a quick look inside the station, which is not abandoned and not even cold; a dispatcher works there daily. |

The geographical circuitry based relay interlocking system, manufacturer SEL is the only one of its type in Finland. Until it is replaced.. |
