The Sawmill of Iloniemi, Korpilahti

The Sawmill Of Iloniemi in 1994 AD!!

We went to check this power station of a former sawmill at a crazy time, in the middle of winter and night in 1999, with high expectations. The place is in woods and it seemed very cool in Kantonen's book, but by the time we got there it was destroyed. Only a smoke stack stood at the yard. Ja meitä vit,-- sanonko mitä, ryydatti!

Later we found an announcement from the officials, which goes like this (in Finnish). In brief, Bonvesta OY a.k.a the plot agency of UPM wood industry group had cleaned up the soil and the area will be in residential use in the future. Therefore, from the DM crew and the anonymous writer, we'd like to send a special shout out: Fuck Bonvesta OY, fuck UPM-Kymmene, fuck ympäristöministeriö, fuck Korpilahden kaavoitusvirasto, Janne Huttunen and his crippled bitch. This is DM, were outta here.

Back to reality, we went to see the place again in 2002, and there was still no advance at the area. It was just as unused as it was three years earlier, so they don't seem to hurry with the new houses.

A small shelter in front of the chimney. Starring Violator and the hitech light equipment.
Raiztlin inside the shelter and behind him an iron gate which prevents anybody from going into the chimney. No smiling.
Raiztlin on the snowy roof and the chimney behind. Notice a very frustrated gesture in this situation.
We had to flounder in the snow before we found it so no cheering here either in Violators face.
Best try of photographing the chimney in darkness.
Violator on the roof. Dark.
Very clever one . This is inside the chimney taken from very difficult position. Old rusty stairs on the left .
Three years later, we've got some daylight. The chimney is cool.
Seen from a path that used to take to the sawmill and worker houses.
On first visit, at night, we avoided using flashlites at the path because this shed was so close to it and we thought someone lived here. Now looking with daylight, I don't think the shed is very useful.
Working class house, now empty.
A better house, maybe nowadays a summer time cottage.
