elämäntilanne

Haapamäki is a railroad junction in central Finland, that's importance is nowadays not what is was still some 30 years ago. The intersectioning route sections Tpe-Vs and Hpk-Jy, built in the last decades of 19th century, meant quite some traffic in Haapamäki, until a new straighter route section Ov-Jäs was finished in the end of 1970's. Nowadays the station and route sections carry only little traffic.

Okay, interesting thing about Haapamäki is the steam locomotive park, which is tourist attraction nowadays run by a former Olympic level distance runner. The park itself is worth a visit too, but instantly behind the fences there is a scrap area which hides lots of "treasures". Most of them are related to railways and can be classified as scrap, possibly hazardous for environment.
