Halla water intaking station, Kotka
colourline

This water station is embedded to the foundations of a concrete bridge on the island of Halla. Apparent user for the water it took has been the wood industry on the island. Now that the industry is all ceased there is no need for water pumping here and the station is disused.

dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu12 Brick walls of the pumping station continue from where stone and concrete ends.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu11 They have taken care of securing the small curiosity. The thing just is, that this bushy pit is very peaceful and thus suitable place to use violent accessing methods. Even the thick steel sheets over windows and the door haven't been adequate for protecting the place.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu08 View from the entrance window. The place is pretty damn reeky, since there is still a wet space under below the floor.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu01 There was this pool.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu02 I'm not quite sure why there was need to mix something to the water, or mix the water itself, so well. But here it is anyway, the pool and some mixers.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu09 Mixers from closer range.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu03 Machine space is empty.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu04 Some cable hoist thing.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu05 Unofficial visits had been going on for quite some time already.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu06 Looks better without flash but informational side is lacking.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu07 Access point to the water space. Not inviting.
dm-r5-ktahalla_pumppu10 Poetic..
