Haarajoki water mill, Järvenpää
colourline

This water mill has until recently been the oldest (used) industrial building in Järvenpää. Obviously they have stopped milling, since the owner started as a miller already in 1940's! There should be an active power station (or, a small turbine anyway) inside producing electricity for the owner. So far we've only done a quick external check, but perhaps more later.

dm-jar_vanhamyltsa1 Great view with stream, dam installations, curving village road and the mill as a dominating detail.
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa2 Interesting function-related architecture, the mill is wide where it must be and narrower where it must not be wide.
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa3 View from West.
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa8 From the traces on the wall surface I would presume the mill has been raised during the last investment in production in 1950's.
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa7 After milling was suspended, they've take care of securing easy access points. Supposedly it's a must so, otherwise kids from the village would hang around a bit too much.
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa4 The small stream flows.
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa5 You can see this same winch hook in Silent Wall, but atleast here it's in a different position!
dm-jar_vanhamyltsa6 Grain silo which doesn't suite to the surrounding area too well.
