| Epilän Nahka Oy leather factory, Tampere |
Ab Krominahkatehdas Oy started production of quality leathers around 1917 in town of Epilä, which was later merged to city of Tampere. The company was renamed to Epilän Nahka Oy and it became the largest leather producer in Tampere, which at a certain point had quite many of these factories.
After leather industry left the area, the buildings had more or less vague users, and finally some of them were demolished to make way for new houses. The tanning house stood longest abandoned, but it was eventually converted to residential use around 2004. Before this, we had used one midnight summer party night to check out this place.
