| Auran Saha Oy, Aura |
This sawmill has been active until recent times. It's actually still included in some business directories for the year 2004. The sawmill's last manager's family name is same as the name of the location, where the area's first water-powered sawmill was built in 18th century. Just a big co-incidence? Maybe. That's about all we know about the history of this sawmill.
In historic terms, the area is not very interesting. However, it offers a bunch of nicely rusted junk to check, lots of small buildings and structures, and technical curiosities for anyone interested in old machines. Apparently a fire has destroyed some sections, and some may have been demolished by either nature or machine force. The area is neighbored by a house and it's become a dump yard for (de)constructioning waste. Despite all this, overall impression after the trip was very positive. This is one of the neater sawmill areas we've visited.
